World-Class Microalgae Production in Cádiz
Location & Scale – Our facility is located in the public port area of El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz, Spain) at Dársena Comercial. We were the first company to set up in this aquaculture cluster and occupy about 10,000 m² dedicated to marine microalgae cultivation.
Pioneering Presence – Fitoplancton Marino has been producing microalgae here since 2002, becoming a world leader in marine microalgae production and integrating into Grupo Hisparroz (Ebro Foods) in 2011 to strengthen synergies in aquaculture.
Quality & Certifications – We hold the first and only Novel Food authorisation in Europe for marine microalgae and a GRAS rating in the USA. We were also the first microalgae producer to earn ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 certifications.
Innovation & Technology – Our engineering and R&D teams developed unique production technologies specifically for this plant, and we invest millions in R&D to maintain top-quality and sustainable microalgae cultivation.
Multiple Sites – Besides the port-area facility, we operate an Industrial Plant "Arcos" in Spain for producing Nannochloropsis and other species.
